I visited family over the holidays in Detroit this last December. But, I really wish I could have fit in another drive through the city to get some fresh pictures.
Last time I was there for such a purpose was with the guys behind the Propergander series and Exit Enterprises. On that visit, I ended up with the photograph above and quite a few more. The barren wasteland of a city seems to have new photo opportunities around every corner and many interesting projects that you might not expect, like Tigrrrrific Orange Houses and The Heidelberg Project, just to name a few.

Snapped a few pictures of Tyler from Burnin’ Man while I was back at the parent’s house for the holidays.
The bar they were playing at was uber low-light and these were tweaked a ton to even get them looking this good. Oh, and btw, check out the band if you get a chance (yes, they do tour around the Great Lakes)… They played most of the Operation Ivy album as one of their three sets, or it seemed that way to me.
