Niagara Falls panorama

The puffin has lasted longer than one might think.

The penguins have lasted longer than one might think.

Another one of the many random photos I took out in Maine.

This cold weather is getting to me

About this time every year I start thinking about getting out of the Midwest for a week in search of someplace warmer. But, since I know that’s not going to happen this year, I just keep editing photos from last spring in Maine, when it was 80 degrees plus. I’m starting to think I should turn up the thermostat for the rest of the day…

And now for a change of pace…

Portland, ME

Portland, ME from the Bug Light. Shot in May 2009 while there for my brother’s graduation.

Detroit, I love you, be back soon!

Motor City In ustrial Park image

I visited family over the holidays in Detroit this last December. But, I really wish I could have fit in another drive through the city to get some fresh pictures.

Last time I was there for such a purpose was with the guys behind the Propergander series and Exit Enterprises. On that visit, I ended up with the photograph above and quite a few more. The barren wasteland of a city seems to have new photo opportunities around every corner and many interesting projects that you might not expect, like Tigrrrrific Orange Houses and The Heidelberg Project, just to name a few.

On the road again…

Ghosts of the Erie

In May, I went to my little brother’s graduation in Portland, ME. Rode there with the parents. On the first day, we ended up getting all the way to Utica, NY.

While on the road, I shot what I saw from the car window with the then-new camera. Tons of rust and farm and forest and ghost industry. The above and below seem to summarize the idea of the blues moving north for the new century, but there are more on my Flickr page if you would like to see them, too.
